Is your coffee organic?
Yes! Our coffee is USDA Organic Certified by Pennsylvania Certified Organic (PCO), a USDA-accredited certifying agency.
What is an organic coffee bean?
Organic coffee beans are grown without synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, or artificial chemicals, ensuring a more natural and sustainable brew.
Where are your beans from?
Multiple growing regions all over the world including – Ethiopia, Indonesia, Mexico, South America and Latin America
How should I choose my coffee?
It all comes down to personal preference! Start by sampling light, medium, and dark roasts. Then, explore different processing methods like natural, honey-processed, or wet-hulled (such as Sumatra). Try coffees from various regions and experiment with brewing methods like drip, pour-over, and French press. Most importantly, choose freshly roasted coffee from a local roaster — and for the best impact, go for fair trade, organic options!
Do you offer decaf?
Yes, a FTO, mountain-water-processed (chemical free) decaf, normally from Honduras or Peru.
How should I store my coffee?
Keep your coffee fresh by storing it in an airtight container in a cool, dry place away from light. Our AirScape canister is the perfect solution!
Can you grind my coffee for me?
Yes, we do have different grind type options – PRESS (coarse for French Press & percolators), DRIP (medium coarse for drip coffee & pourovers), and ESPRESSO (fine for espresso machines, Moka pots, & Aeropress)
How often do you roast?
We roast two to three times a week depending on demand.
What is the ideal water temperature for brewing coffee?
For most brewing methods, aim for a water temperature between 195°F and 205°F to achieve the best flavor extraction.
What is the difference between light, medium and dark roast?
Light Roast:
- Color: Light brown
- Flavor: Retains most of the original flavors of the coffee bean, often described as bright, acidic, and fruity. You can taste the unique characteristics of the coffee’s origin.
- Body: Light body, often referred to as a “clean” cup
- Aroma: Floral and citrusy notes
- Caffeine Content: Higher than darker roasts (though the difference is minimal)
- Roasting Time: Shorter roasting time, beans are not roasted beyond the first crack
Medium Roast:
- Color: Medium brown
- Flavor: Balanced flavor profile, often described as smooth, well-rounded, and slightly sweet. The original flavors of the bean are still present but complemented by more developed roasting flavors.
- Body: Medium body
- Aroma: Nutty, caramel, and chocolatey notes
- Caffeine Content: Slightly lower than light roasts, but still relatively high
- Roasting Time: Roasted to the point just before the second crack
Dark Roast:
- Color: Dark brown to almost black
- Flavor: Bold, rich, and intense with pronounced roasting flavors, often described as smoky, chocolaty, or spicy. The original flavors of the bean are less pronounced, as the roasting process takes over.
- Body: Full body, sometimes oily on the surface
- Aroma: Roasty, sometimes with hints of bitterness
- Caffeine Content: Lower than light and medium roasts, but the difference is not substantial
- Roasting Time: Longer roasting time, beans are roasted past the second crack

Common Oven has delicious bagels. We also serve breakfast sandwiches (Friday-Sunday, made in-house) and Power-bites (also made in-house).
